Kaust WEP 2023 branding
Winning 3rd Place at the WEP 2023 Brand Design Competition: A Creative Milestone
Challenge
KAUST
BRANDING
Innovation
In early 2023, I had the opportunity to participate in the Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) brand design competition hosted by KAUST—an annual global event that brings together creatives, researchers, and innovators. The competition challenged designers to create a full brand identity for that year’s theme, EDGE: Enrichment for All, and the experience became an important milestone in my creative journey.
To my excitement, my work earned 3rd place in the national competition—an achievement that continues to inspire and motivate me as a designer.

The Challenge: Designing WEP 2023’s Visual Identity
The competition required creating a brand identity that expressed the energy, inclusivity, and forward-thinking spirit of the Winter Enrichment Program.
My concept revolved around the idea of “Edge” as a boundary between the known and the unknown—a space where curiosity, innovation, and discovery meet.
I explored this idea through:
Bold geometric compositions
Contrasting color palettes
Strong typographic hierarchy
Dynamic layout systems
The goal was to design a brand that felt energetic, modern, and accessible to all participants, regardless of background or academic discipline.

Building the Visual System
The identity relied heavily on directional shapes, layering, and dynamic color contrasts, representing movement toward new ideas and the push beyond boundaries.
I wanted the visuals to communicate momentum, curiosity, and the excitement of learning—core principles of WEP.
