Problem

Despite its cultural richness, Al-Balad faces significant challenges that diminish its potential as a vibrant, tourist-friendly destination:

  • Poor navigation and lack of organized wayfinding make it difficult for visitors to explore confidently.

  • Language barriers complicate communication between visitors and local vendors.

  • Limited access to functional tools like trolleys discourages larger purchases and burdens both visitors and workers.

  • A lack of support/rest infrastructure negatively affects workers’ well-being and customer service.

  • Outdated signage and uniforms fail to reflect the heritage and hospitality of the market.

These issues reduce visitor engagement, lower spending, and hinder the overall economic and cultural impact of the market
